Little things ... How we got here

On the way to school the other day my squirely girls amazed me again with little things that they hold dear to there heart that I don't know about. We always listen to the music "LOUDER LOUDER MUMMA" on the way to school. The song Say Hey I Love You michael franti & spearhead came on. Ry started laughing and said "Mommy when we went to Elmo's world you and Daddy were laughing and singing that song to chudders (each other)." Having been in the car that day for eight hours I had forgotten all about it until she said something. It makes me happy that they have memories like this, I can't even remember my mom and dad being together. It makes me wonder just how much they remember. It is so cute when they come running with little things they remember doing, it always amazes me that they have not forgotten but have not talked about it in months.

I moved around a lot as a child, I had moved 15 times before we settled into our what I call home for ever when I was in fifth grade. Going to a new school was nothing for my sister brother and I where we had done it so much. Fifth grade was the first time that I met the girls Daddy. I remember having such a crush on him. We "went out" aka talked for a day then broke up a week later. lol We lived down the road from each other and Chris was good friends with my brother. My mom just recently found a note book of mine from elementary with Chris's name written in it. Ha ha Who would have known. We started dating a few years after high school and have been together since then. We had our beautiful twin girls on December 22 2005, I can still remember the day we found out we were having twins. We were on our way in the hospital when a friend said "have fun finding out you are having twins" we laughed and went in for the sonogram. We saw the sonogram tech look at the screen kind of funny then announced we were having twins. I never remember feeling overwhelmed or nervous It was just pure excitement. Chris was probably a little more nervous then I but hid it well if he was. I have wanted twins since the first baby shower I ever went to, my mom was blown away when we returned with the pics from the sonogram. I can still remember everyone's face as we showed them the pics. I feel so blessed to have had twins. I love them and their Daddy a lot. It all started back in elementary with a huge crush, now our little Devan is in pre school and her best friend is Cameron, a boy. He told his mommy that he and Devan are getting married some day. He told her "Mom I know I am supposed to wait 20 years to get married but I will always love Devan" So cute, I never go in the class to find Devan and Cameron more then a few feet of each other. Who knows maybe someday lol. Ryleigh on the other hand is a social butterfly all of the sudden, she is playing with a new kids everyday I pick her up. The only thing I would change about this life is I wish I could slow it down a little. The girls are growing up so fast I am excited for what is to come, but slowing it down a little would be nice.

Batter up

The girls have found a "new" favorite thing to play with.
Hanging on to your baseball helmet has paid off Daddy.
Ryleigh told Chris "Daddy when I am in school and play base
ball I will use your hat" lol too cute
Here are a couple pics of the girls sporting their base ball gear.
Note that Devan has added a little extra. Got to love them.

Please it is too early for this...

1.) Having a foot of snow in the driveway and having to haul all the groceries up the driveway in a sled because the car wont make it up...

2.)Negative temps

3.) Buying ridiculous amounts of heating oil what seams like everyday.

4.)
If Daddy leaves for work and we get another pile of snow after he has plowed I either don't go any where or shovel the entire driveway. Or there is always a nice plowed driveway and mother nature decides to add a little ice to the mix. That is to be expected in Maine, its never just snow.
5.) The dish never works because I would have to walk in the woods through more then a foot of snow to clear it off. This is never OK with two, three year old that haven't been outside in over a week and can't watch any TV.

6.) Negative temperatures.

Although Maine winters are dreaded dearly by me there are a couple things that can make them a little easier to deal with.

1.) Feeling the excitement, when the first snow flies. Even if it is just a snow flake or two, the girls insist on putting all the winter gear and heading outside.

2.) My girls faces on Christmas morning, and all the fun Christmas traditions.

3.) Christmas music ( the girls and I love christmas music)

4.) The girls turn 4!!!

5.) Sledding, Mommy is just as much of a kid as the girls when it comes to sledding and our driveway is a perfect spot.

6.) Seeing the excitement on Ryleigh's face when I tell her she can finally wear her "pooties" (footie pajamas) again. She has asked everyday all summer long.

Good or bad it is coming and no way to prevent it, and there is no convincing Daddy we need to move there is no way we can take him out of Maine. As much as he dreads the winters like I do he would never live without them.

How do I remember EVERYTHING, forever?

A look back over the last 3 years

Ryleigh and Devan
I wish I had started this blog when the girls were first born. I look at some other blogs, and I am inspired. I want my girls to remember as much as their childhood as possible. Creating a blog helps keep memories forever. So many Mommies out there with blogs have captured your little one's whole lives in writing, I envy you. I am creating this blog solely to remember small details that a lot of the time get forgotten when life comes at you a million miles an hour. So bare with me while I add memories of the girls from the past. I am taking all sticky notes stuck to the inside of cupboards and photo albums with cute things they have said and done and finding a way to fit them in our blog. If there is something completely irrelevant on here just think its just another mom in survival, freaking out mode trying to remember EVERY detail of their girls lives.

This post is some of my favorite pictures of the girls from the last awesome three years. I can't wait to do this every year!

Pre School

Pre school has begun.

The girls started their first day of pre school yesterday. They were so excited and proud of themselves. My dream came true of getting to dress them alike on their first day of school. Ryleigh said "mom I will wear a dress today but tomorrow I want a pony tail and I am wearing my sneakers."  Three year old's say the cutest things. There was no problem leaving the girls at school they didn't even notice when Mommy and Daddy left. Me on the other hand... I cried like a baby. When we picked them up it was like they were a year older after just one day.

Nothing short of steak and tatters for my girls

Steak and tatters

Ever since the girls were babies they have been rather picky about what they eat. Dreams of throwing together a quick meal are out the window. The girls refuse to eat a chicken nuggets, french fries, mac and cheese, or any thing else that is easy to make. I think they are some of the only kids out there that cry when we are in town and try to buy them a Happy Meal. Granted I am happy they don't like it because it is horrible for them anyway. I would much rather fill their bellies with healthy food and I love cooking for them.  A  simple meal now and then would be nice. Don't judge, if we are short on time and looking for something quick I will give them shredded wheat. If feels a little odd but I just think about all the kids scarfing down spaghetti o's and realize it is not a bad option.

OCD overload.

The girls got a sand and water table and the day it came it was pouring buckets. I happed to be babysitting my cousin Rhiannons little boy Hunter. He was so upset that his mom had gone. When the Fedex truck pulled into the driveway with the huge box we couldn't wait for the sun to come out. We opened it up and put it together in the living room on a tarp. The kids LOVED it. It really didn't make that big of a mess and I survivded with little to no stress. It stopped a screaming three year old! I would much rather sweep up a little sand than listen to non stop crying.
